SHOWCASE Tuesday! ~ NEW ARRIVALS!

I'm getting my hands dirty today, digging back into the boxes of records we packed up from our weekend trip to L.A. Starting to get things priced and as I'm working along, thought I'd post a few of the unique items we brought home with us for the shop! 

First up, Jan Hammer's "The First Seven Days". This album is nothing but a synth lovers paradise! Keyboard extraordinaire, Hammer has finely crafted the tunes on this album using a piano, electric piano, Moog synth, Oberheim synth & digital sequencer, drums, percussion, Freeman strings synth & the Mellotron! He welcomes a couple of guest musicians to two of the songs on the album. The rest is performed all by him! This stuff is amazing and I can most definitely say that he is well worthy of more praise than being known as the guy who composed the Miami Vice theme song! Come check it out. We also have his 1976 album, "Oh, Yeah", which is more of these super amazing synth filled tunes!

Next, we've got Herman Choy-Lin's album "Aquarius" (Dub). This copy is a 2003 UK reissue of the original 1975 release. The original copies sell for lots of cashola and apparently the reissues are selling for decent prices too. Our copy is a strong VG to a low VG+...we've priced it to move! Plays well and a great opportunity to own these tunes at a great price!!!

L.A. BUYING TRIP - A SUCCESS!!!

We have been hiding out in L.A. since Friday night. An adventure filled with family and of course RECORDS! Lucked out Saturday morning, as we were heading out to get coffee, to find a yard sale with nothing but records! Hooked up with the guy and spent the entire afternoon Sunday digging in his storage unit jam packed with records! 
And, as it so happens, my brother is a big collector, as well and he's sending us home with 2 boxes full of HEAT from his personal collection! See photos here!

 This is an awesome Modern cedar chest made by LANE. The exterior is grey enamel paint with a black enamel base. The interior still has the warranty certificate attached! Fantastic condition and priced to move!

VAMP is Vintage Art & Music for the People! 

We are a new shop recently opened in Downtown Oakland. March 1st marked our opening day and we have been off to a great start! We are foremost a used record shop, offering 1000s of excellent titles at a variety of prices. We strive to offer something for everyone! We specialize in Jazz, Soul, Blues & Gospel. We also offer Soundtracks, Comedy, disco/soul & hip hop 12"s, Country & Folk, Classical, Hip Hop & a vast selection of 45rpm singles. We are working on building up our Latin (Mexico, Central & South America, Afro-Cuban, etc), Caribbean and African offerings and are proud to present our current collections. 

 

As our name reflects, we also offer a fantastic selection of vintage items, including house and bar wares, kids what-nots, clothing and accessories for guys and gals and unique framed album covers for use as home decor. Our selections are always changing so keep an eye out for what's new to come!

In addition to the records and vintage, we are proud to be partnering with our friend's gallery LeQuiVive, (located a short walk from our shop), to offer a new selection of fine art on our walls on a monthly basis. We are looking forward to establishing a happy home for VAMP in the South of Broadway/Lakeside district of Downtown Oakland! At just a half block from Snow Park and 2 blocks from Lake Merritt in one direction and 2 blocks to Broadway and the 19th Street BART Station, as well as 3 blocks from the fantastic FOX Theatre, in the other, we are proud to be a part of this blossoming neighborhood! We will be participating in the festivities every 1st Friday Art Walk, so keep an eye out on our events schedule! We are open every day of the week, with the exception of Monday. Our shop is owner operated and you can find Tracy there during the week days and Fernando will be joining her on the weekends. We are always happy to welcome you into our home away from home and look forward to your visit!
